HP has upgraded the design of this sixth generation ProBook 430 with a premium look and better shape. The device weighs around 3.3lbs (1.49kg) with a profile of 18mm, which is perfect for business users.

The lid is made of aluminium and we were able to open with one hand. Underneath the metal lid, the whole deck is in silver, except the display frame that remains black. The hinges are sturdy and allow the display to open to 180 degrees and offer appropriate resistance to hold the display in the desired angle.

Above the keyboard, there are up-firing speak that we found fascinating and performs perfectly well. The ventilation grills are on the bottom panel, as usual, while the hot air exits from its left side.

Keyboard

The keyboard on this business laptop is good for day-to-day tasks and offers a better typing experience. It offers average key travel with slightly click feedback and we found it suitable for programming and writing. However, the keycap size is not very impressive, but still good as compared to its competitors.

The touchpad on HP ProBook 430 G6 is appropriate in size and we found it snappy responsive. Unlike other Windows laptops, this one has a larger than average surface area and it works with accuracy. It responds well to multi-gestures and we found it an absolute delight to use while commuting.

Display

The display on this HP ProBook is 13.3-inch in size with an FHD diagonal screen and IPS panel. The one we tested for this review came with a screen resolution of 1920 х 1080p with a 16:9 ratio. The pixel density on this HP business laptop is 166 PPI, while the pitch is about 0.153 х 0.153mm.

We found the display to be bright, while the screen delivers snappy visuals with vivid colours. We did not notice any stuttering while playing high-quality videos and streaming 1080p YouTube videos.

Connectivity

The ports on HP ProBook 430 G6 are scattered on both sides. The laptop houses Type-C USB 3.1 (Gen. 1) port with the barrel-style plug, a Type-A USB 3.1 (Gen. 1) port, an HDMI connector, a DisplayPort output, an RJ-45, and an audio jack on the right side. On the left side, there is an SD card reader and another Type-A USB 3.1 (Gen. 1) port accompanying the exhaust.

Specs & Performance

HP has armed the sixth generation ProBook 430 G6 with an 8th generation i5 CPU that runs on the Windows 10 Pro OS. The quad-core processor can offer 1.6GHz clock speed and could deliver a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz. Additionally, there is a 256GB SSD storage paired with an 8GB memory and Intel UHD 620 Integrated GPU.

For a business laptop, this is a good combination of specs that can withstand tough tasks. You can perform everyday computing errands, perform word processing and work on light media editing programs.

We evaluated the performance of HP ProBook 430 G6 by running more than a dozen Chrome tabs, while running office suite and streaming a 1080p video. The laptop did not display any glimpse of stuttering neither it lagged when we were switching between tabs.

Battery life

The battery added on the ProBook 430 G6 by HP is a 3-cell 45Wh. Although it is not a good choice, the laptop performs rather well in our Wi-Fi test. It offered a runtime of about 9 hours with video playback and casual web browsing. For a laptop of this size, this is an exceptional battery that performs with such powerful specs.
